US Navy Blue Angels
Beach Blast
2008 NAS Oceana Airshow
Beach Blast
31st Street Park
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Saturday September 20, 2008
IN THIS VIDEO, watch as airshow announcer Rob Reider helps introduce CAPT. Kevin Mannix, the Squadron Leader of the US Navy Blue Angels, who then, in turn, helps to introduce the 2008 Blue Angels team. The "Butter" sign refers to the local band, who provided musical entertainment before and after this video was shot. I was pretty far back in the crowd and had to point the camera well over my head to get this video. It was tough, but I was able to get a decent view doing so, and a decent video. In fact, I use the same technique when I shoot the parachute jumps during the Beach Blast!
Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

Photos show Clint Harris absent from the pilot lineup as well as him taking off in his jet with the tail number removed. I think it was him.

Does anyone know who was relieved from the team?

Woohoo! epic! I love watching stuff about the pilots and the team in addition to the actual performance. You have THE best Blue Angels videos on the net and I greatly enjoy watching them. It's the next best thing from being at the airshow itself.
Now if only you could've made it to Eau Claire, WI this year to videotape our airshow. The first we've had since 2002 and the first time the Blue Angels were here since 1998. Ah it was a blast!
