Our sixth day on our trip to Scotland brought us to northern England! We went to Holy Island where we drove across a tidal flat at low tide and then to Alnwick Castle which was used as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies.

  • I would love to know how you decided to go where you did, how you got there and the cost. I need to make a plan! Thanks.

  • @LizAZ08 Our friend who lives there gave us good places to visit, but we also borrowed a bunch of Scotland travel book and videos from the library and looked up the places that seemed the most interesting. I also plotted all those places on Google Earth with a color code for level of interest. We got around in our friend's car, which was free but gas was about $100/fill up (£60 or so). We mainly stayed with our friend but also in a couple B&Bs which were nice & about $100/night.
