Gene has always fancied himself an intellectual. Sadly, he really has nothing interesting and/or intelligent to say. His interviews are all the same: pounding his chest like a caveman and reciting his resume, which makes him very boring. I love that Terry Gross just lets him go on and hang himself through his bravado, sexism and convoluted logic. However, this is why Gene is deemed, by all public opinion, a gigantic douchebag.

Terry Gross is a facile interviewer and Gene Simmons is a laughable narcissist. Gene is all over the place. I don't think he wants to be a part of this interview. He's obviously baiting her and she's taking the bait, instead of being an impartial interviewer and asking him why he's aggressively doing this. However, Terry Gross has never been an impartial interviewer and always inserts her own views, commentary, and values into her interviews, which is why I think she's benign and tolerable.

Well, I enjoyed this interview a lot. I'd heard about it, but I found that he was a mix of put-on and speaking as plainly as possible about his notions of the world. Sure, some of it came off as obnoxious, but I see him as speaking his mind honestly about things most people don't talk about openly. Whether you found him distasteful or not, it was a great interview. (I am a fan of Terry Gross, by the way.)

Gene Simmons is really douchey, but Terry Gross starts off with hacky questions right off the bat. "Does the make up make you feel less vulnerable?" Wtf, Gross?

Love Kiss and love Gene. However, he is soooo defensive in this interview! It seems he came into this interview with preconceived notions of what NPR. He keeps making references to "big words' & "reading". Terry is being super cool and he is being such a jerk to her. He comes off as insecure about being on a radio program on NPR. So, he goes on the attack to make himself appear stronger and 'smarter". Unfortunately, it backfired on him big time!
