http://dunbarplumbingforums.com/DUNBAR/ - Here is a water heater that has some serious problems, and it started with the initial plumbing contractor using CPVC directly into a gas fired water heater. This house at the time we installed the new water heater was being sold.

  • Get that cpvc pipe away from the water heater at lease a foot away.

  • @ishkode71 - I should of posted the finished product after the water heater was replaced. Copper water lines ran 30" upward with new shutoff. Why the state of KY even allows this garbage is beyond me.

  • That's fucked up

  • @vrejian - Absolutely. No plumber, anywhere should be installing CPVC directly into a water heater, especially gas. Those plastic valves are garbage, the piping destroys itself by warping and the overall condition in just a few short years is terrible. As long as the profession of plumbing keeps stepping away from skill, it will continue to worsen.

  • OMG. I've had to install cpvc directly to a water heater when I couldn't afford the water heater connectors. But that was on an electric water heater. I would never install cpvc or any plastic pipe directly to a gas water heater. That's just unsafe.
