My history buff husband basically giggled though "The 300" and claimed that "Herodotus would be proud". :)
Actually, a few others would be the legend of Galileo dropping two objects off the tower of Pisa (probably didn't happen) and the very prolific claim that it rained on Mozart's funeral (it was actually a sunny day).
Anyone who takes any historical account on face value, is being naive.
Kaban is also wrong about miracles in the Quran. Muhammad was an illiterate so him writing the book was miraculous. It's a shame Matt couldn't google "quran miracles" at the start. I think this nonsense of a talk could have stopped there.
Actually he claimed to be illiterate, although muslims believe this as a miracle but it easily can be explained how to be a set up. The problem with these people's mind set is that they easily accept extra ordinary claims just because they were exposed to this or that religion since their childhood.
That video is a two part one titled something like "Matt Dillahunty talks with an open minded Christian" You should be able to find it around that title.
I think Tommy needs to read a bit more about Papias. Papias writings no longer exist. We know about them because others quote his work. Papias says some crazy stuff that many scholars, even the early church fathers who quote it, don't necessarily believe. So why should we believe his account of Mathew authorship? Besides, Papias says Mathew wrote it in Hebrew, which we know isn't true because all gospels were written originally in Greek. I'm surprised Matt didn't bring this up.
Why does he have to give an example, its not necessary at all lol. Seems like the kid knows hes screwed and hes trying to defend his honor or whatever by just making up arguments :P

He needs to get a point of view that doesn't hide his real ideas.
Holy fucker shit. Kabane needs to go back to theist school.
I think I would have brought up Herodotus.
