Background:
(a) Natural Disaster:
Nearly 75,000 people died in the October quake that flattened towns and villages.
The devastating earthquake of October 08, 2005 has caused havoc & destruction in the North East region of Pakistan (South East Asia) not only in human misery (life, property damage and destruction) but it has left some very painful and perhaps never ending nightmares for all habitants of this area, especially children. Nearly 41,000 children became orphans as a result of the earthquake and nearly all have been spontaneously fostered by extended family members.
While most cultures consider children who have lost both parents to be orphans, in Pakistan, a child who has lost his or her father is considered an orphan too.
The trauma caused by gory sights of death all around, with nowhere to look and no one to blame, has compounded helpless. This natural disaster has caused unforgettable memories for these helpless children. The misery is continuous as many of these children have lost all close relatives and are totally dependent upon doled-out subsistence from the Government.
