Lake Winnipeg was voted as having one of the top ten beaches in the world by a certain Hugh Heffner publication (and no it's not a nude beach), and there is a lot of historical forts and museums outside the city limits. Great fishing and hunting as well as the Polar Bear tours up north in Churchill.

Quite the lunatic drive. Anything over say, two hours is long distance for me as I tend to get sleepy.
But I enjoyed your journey! Mom and Dad live in McAllen and I graduated from Sharyland H.S.! Go figure.
