i love this song, and i never heard it before. only jonnie angel. i was born in 1956 so i was young, when she had her hits. but i remember her singing on halabalu, i think. i love that background sound, a real 60s hit.

@fferocious you could play her version today on a Top 40 radio station along with Gaga, Christina Maria and what not but you couldn't play Platters there anymore

@llabful Everyone is entitled to their own choice. However, personally, having just listened to the Shelley Fabares version The Platters are millions of miles ahead. Just add up The Platters, with Tony Williams, views and compare them to the number of Shelley's views. However it's a personal choice to which we are each entitled. SEASON'S GREETINGS.

probably the first disco song

@fferocious I like her version better, Platters sing it too slow

Even with the biggest echo chamber possible this voice is about as weak as a limp noodle on a Pizza Hut pasta plate. Such an embarassment as well as an affront to the poor, susceptable teenager record buyers.

You have Shelley Fabares attempting to sing "My Prayer" and then you have Tony Williams of The Platters singing the classic version of "My Prayer." Absolutely no comparison.

Shelly did better than Annette boy-wise.
Does anyone know if that is the Blossoms and Darlene Love backing her up ?
