  • what's the name of the song? the one with the man singing in the background

  • I don't know, it's a version of a "rimur" (icelandic folk) arranged by Sigur Ros. You can watch the video in Heima's dvd.

  • it's in Heima's double dvd...

  • This is one of the most beautifully haunting songs I've ever heard!!! Even though I don't understand enough Icelandic to understand what the song is about nor appreciate the rhymes. There is something ancient inside these old songs I think. Part of what makes it beautiful like the country and people from which it came.

  • Simply great. Really.

  • REALLY GREAT. THANK YOU. THE WHOLE ATMOSPHERE OF THE SONG

BRINGS UP MEMORIES OF MY GRANDFATHER WHO USED TO SING CHANTS IN AN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN GREECE (IPIROS) FOR NEARLY 80 YEARS.

  • @darealratchet thnx everyone!!! I already know the name you all can stop sending me comments! this song is amazing, like that other guy said 'Hauntingly Beautiful'

  • @darealratchet The song is Hugann seiða svalli frá, and the man singing it in the background is Steindor Andersen.

  • @darealratchet Hugann seiða svalli frá

  • @darealratchet The name of the song is: Hugann Seiða Svalli Frá

  • stunning!

  • The music:

    Á ferð til Breiðafjarðar vorið 1922;

    translating to

On route to 'Broadfirth' in the spring of 1922.

    Non-literal translation.

And yes, the singer is called Steindór Andersen.

It is indeed a rímur, an Icelandic, and possibly originating in the Scandinavian homelands, rhyming epic poetry. Ye can chack Wikipedia for more information on that.

Minn Heima means... Mine Home ?

Have a jolly good time indeed. Indeedly indeed.

    Goo-byze!

  • Sigur Ros ownes!
