V for Vendetta was Prophecy

People are forgetting some of what he said in the forward to the V Graphic Novel in the 80's (yes its a comic but i mean the collection) 'The Government Now is actually saying that they want to eradicate homosexuality even as a concept'. It was a grim almost fascist time to be living in the 80's under Thatcher. I think some people forget how right wing the tories were.

ah, but alan copied that scene from mad max with the handcuffs and hacksaw...
and I THINK there's a bit of the Crime and Punishment novel in there as well(vaguely)...

CCTV had been around prior to V or at least the consept of it had been.
In 1984 (written in 1948) there's complete survailence of civillians.
Granted, It was still a new consept though.

more respect to the Uncle moore

awesome, man!
Keep in mind it was original at the time V for Vendetta was written, early 80s when CCTV was not as ubiquitous.
In retrospect post-Watchmen, post-V, everything will seem less original now since it's been copied to death.
