Agree, you can't jump around the stage like a flippin jackass when you play slide, if you are even a milimeter off your target note it will sound like a dog taking a shit in your cereal.
Slide guitar DOESN'T use frets, the SLIDE is the fret, sure u can fret behind the note, but for fuck sake you cant jump around and move alot it will throw your playing way off.

@dedsperkrat I agree with you. I have said this over the "tube" and received more BS than I would ever have believed. Guitar playing is an ART, not a sport. If it were a sport then speed would be all that you'd need to be a great player.
