More information about simulator:

Hydraulic Three Degree of Freedom Motion Platform used for realistic racing game simulation. The best part begins at 4:00 min.

AVR communicate with computer through USB interface (we use V-USB AVR C Lib).

At the very begining we thought that using X-SIm would be the best solution. It provide many solutions and control mechanisms but during test we spot that many games hangs with X-Sim running on the same machine. We have also problems with running it under Windows XP 64 bit as well as on Windows Vista - so we decided to write our own software (using .Net Framework). Currently we implement 3 grabing mechanisms.

Currently to grab info from game we use 3 Methods:
- OutSim - unfortunately it work only with GRID and Live For Speed
- ForceFeedback (we write proxy software which introduce our platform as 3 Axis Game Controller) - it is vary important that AVR must send valid HID information through USB port
- DirectInput (if game doesn't support ForceFeedback) - software set DirectInput in share mode and grab every information which arrive from steering wheel (or any other game controller).

  • It should be very easy to connect your Atmega8 to x-sim software through simple serial connection!

  • You should try x-sim. It supports decades of games besides LFS and GRID, with realtime acceleration values using plugins!!!

Just mention a few: GTR1/2, GTR Evolution, Nascar Racing 2005 , rFactor, GT Legends, Collin McRay Dirt, IRacing, SBK (motorbike simulation), Richard burns rally, and many more...!

    Regards, Thanos
