Mechanic Liens are everywhere in California. They prevent property owners from getting free work on their property without paying. The result is that unpaid bills allow a lien to be placed on property which can result in foreclosure. • ok this is whats going on with me.. I had a mechanic work on my car, his shop was closed down.. So he said he had a friend with a shop he can finish my car there. Well like a month later the mechanic hasnt finished it and i cant get in touch with him anymore.. I called the shop and told them im going to get take my car and tow it out of there. The shop owner say i cant do that till he gets paid for storage fees.. He claims he filed a mechanics lien and i should be gettting a letter next week..
