This is the Glen-L designed Pee Wee that my daughter and I built in the spring of '09. With my 8 year old daughter the boat planes out quickly and rides great. She really has alot of fun and is becoming very confident and a highly skilled skipper. Yes, she passed the boaters safety course. I have less than $600. in wood, bronze fasteners and west system epoxy in building this. It took us about 3 months working in the evenings. I tried a 5 1/2 hp engine at first but the boat had troulble getting on plane. I then found this 1955 Johnson 10 hp at a garage sale for $20. With the 10hp it will even haul me and my 8 year old around at 20 mph, we have a combined weight of 225 lbs. With just my daughter in it the Airguide speedometer reads 25 mph. This is much more fun and safer than a jet ski or pwc.

  • The plans for this boat and many others can be found at .Glen-L.com from Glen-L marine designs.

  • Actually it is a '55. The engine was seahorse green when I bought it, but I thought the Holiday Bronze and Cream looked better so I repainted it. 1955 was the last year for Seahorse Green.

  • I used 1/4" Marranti Mahogany marine plywood ( called Hydro-Teck) for the deck, sides and bottom. The transom is marine grade 3/4" douglas fir plywood and the frames are 3/4" mahogany. It took 3 sheets of 1/4" plywood and half a sheet of 3/4" fir.

  • Yes, it will easily plane out with both me and my 8 year old daughter on board. We have a combined weight of 225 lbs. My daughter loves her boat and is very protective of it. She is very careful when docking and tieing up so as not to scratch it.

  • great vid

  • @govermentufo you can go to the glen-l website. They sell the plans there and they have a whole community that is friendly and supportive. I recommend taking the time to explore the site and see what other people have done. I recommend the glen-l and their site for anyone interested in learning more about building boats yourself and I find what people have built to be artful.
