Watch Barack Obama WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29, 2008 ON CBS, NBC, FOX television at 8 pm ! Half-hour paid political commercial.
-----------------------------------------
Barack Obama plans to air a 30-minute commercial Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on three major networks, as well as smaller outlets.
Coming just six days before Election Day, the purchase is one of the largest ad buys in election history. It will saturate the airwaves, even delaying the continuation of the fifth game of the rain-delayed World Series.
The Obama team bought time on CBS, NBC and FOX for about $1 million per network. The infomercial will also run on Univision, BET, MSNBC and TV One.
Flush with cash after record-shattering fundraising gained in part by reversing his vow to accept public financing, Obama has a huge financial edge in the last week of the campaign, having raised more than $600 million, including $150 million in September alone. Republican rival John McCain's campaign is relying on federal funding of about $84 million for the entire period between the Sept. 1-4 Republican convention and Election Day, Nov. 4.
In the ad blitz, the Democratic presidential candidate will focus in part on real voters' stories. Other political figures will make an appearance and the ad buy will dip into a live rally from Sunrise, Fla.
In response to the massive coverage, McCain's campaign released a new ad that says Obama is not ready for prime time in the White House.
The ad, called "TV Special," says Americans are unlikely to hear from Obama that his proposals to increase spending and increase taxes will hurt the economy.
"With crises at home and abroad, Barack Obama lacks the experience America needs," the ad's narrator says. "And it shows. His response to our economic crisis is to spend and tax our economy deeper into recession. The fact is Barack Obama's not ready yet."
The TV campaign comes as Obama, ahead in national and swing-state polls over McCain, tries to win over teetering voters right from the comfort of their couches.
Obama is also giving an interview to a prominent network news anchor, and appearing with fellow Democratic star Bill Clinton at a rally that is timed to hit the late-evening news.
Obama is campaigning Wednesday in North Carolina and Florida.
During a stop in Raleigh, N.C., he will be interviewed by Charlie Gibson of ABC's "World News."
Later, in Florida, Obama will tape an appearance on Comedy Central's irreverent "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. The segment will run at 11 p.m. EDT.
Obama may even be competing with himself.
During the same 11 p.m. slot, Obama is scheduled to appear at a campaign rally for the first time with Bill Clinton, whose wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, lost to Obama in the primaries.
On Thursday, Obama is giving interviews to Brian Williams, anchor of NBC's "Nightly News," and to Rachel Maddow, the host of an evening show on MSNBC.
Two viewers who don't seem excited about all the exposure are Obama's two young daughters.
Appearing on Jay Leno's talk show Monday, Obama's wife, Michelle, said 10-year-old daughter Malia got a little worried to hear that her dad's infomercial would blanket TV.
"'You're going to be on all the TV? Are you going to interrupt my TV?"' her mother said Malia asked.
Michelle Obama said the presidential candidate assured his daughter that he hadn't bought time on the Disney Channel.

I'm a devoted Christian and I find it appalling to see others who-unfortunately- belong to my belief opposing our president who is trying to do it right. Let me tell you folks, we had a self proclaimed Christian president for 8 years and he did nothing but bringing this country down. Now all of you Conservative Christian are too delusional to admit that Bush screwed up big time, and instead, blame it on Obama. Ever wonder why people hate Christianity, it's because of us. We created our enemy.
