Troops take control of LTTE's second administrative town
Gallant soldiers have succeeded in taking control of the LTTE's second main administrative town. Accordingly, our special representative Kasun Gunatilake said troops were able to liberate the Mulangavil administrative town in Kilinochchi.
Reporting from the battlefront, he said troops of the 58th Division were able to capture the Mulangavil town. It is located eight kilometres North of Vellankulam and two kilometres South of Nachchikudah. It is the second agricultural, administrative and supply centre of the terrorists after Kilinochchi. There was a large administrative complex, a hospital, a training centre and the stadium where the heroes day was commemorated last year. There is a cemetery where 2000 burials had taken place. 550 had been buried in the last three months. This proves the fact that they perished in attacks unleashed by the troops. The LTTE unleashed fierce attacks to prevent the 58th Division from overrunning the area. They had brought their leaders from the North. However, the LTTE had to flee the area this afternoon in the face of the extensive operations of the 58th Division. Now the LTTE is facing the crisis of protecting the only sea tiger base in the Western Coast, two kilometres North of this location at Nachchikudah.
