what song is this? ..anyone?

John's brilliance is easy to miss. If you listen to him a lot , you'll find he is a very sophisticated player. His rhythmic and harmonic concept is amazing.
The great Adam Nassbaum is on drums.

John Abercrombie is hands down one of the best jazz guitarists, innovators and composers today. It was special seeing him play with Ralph Towner in NY in 1973.

what kind of guitar is he playing?

Abercrombie is a great player and I love things of his I have heard in the past, but I didn't like this performance. I thought he wasn't focused and the piece didn't add up to much despite the best efforts of the organ player riding to the rescue during his break. Unfortunately the recording quality is very bad and not aimed at the organ at all. Abercrombie can do and has done wonderful things before, but not for me, this time.

@litreacola hay Chad, have you checked out the J Abercrombie mix in the suggestions list ? there´s the beatles cover, tracks from "timeless", Parable. Then there are the albums he´s recorded with Ralf Towner
i wouldn´t say this performance was wretched... but it does lack soul
hope you find something you like, ...cool hendrix cover btw

I find his tone to be wretched and inhuman.
Don't wanna be a debbie downer but this music sounds lifeless.
The organist is compounding the problem.
This is my first time ever listening to john abercrombie. He was recommended
to me. Anyone have any recommendations for a better performance

So funny, love to hear musicians argue about who's "better" ! etc...
Nothing personal, but... should probably shut up and go practice and write and record and maybe some other musicians will argue about you and your music!

You got it wrong. The perfection and quality off music is not a solid bar where you can reach a peak. its a constant search
