It actually is not optional, The health insurance lobbyist who helped write the bill told is on record saying that the health insurance industry would only be on board if the insurance was mandatory. also, the Cadillac health plans will be taxed so heavily, most people, middle class people, will not be able to afford them. I know, both my parents received notice on how much it will cost them, and they have few options. The best place to look is at the frontline documentary on PBS.
It's beyond belief that people still fall for the propaganda the health care reform "public option" is "government health care", It's just an insurance plan. It's optional, and it's not funded by government - it's funded by the premiums of those who choose to buy the plan. Even in Canada, with it's universal health care financing, you still see your private doctor and you still have the option of buying supplementary insurance or "Cadillac" health care plans from private insurance co's.
I agree with the message you're trying to convey 100% but government health care isn't the way. the government let these greedy bastards get way with cases like this for decades and now want to use the SAME cases to justify government sponsored health care. I DO agree that health care companies are responsible for millions of deaths but it'll only get worse should Obama get his way. Reform and standards is the way and government historically always turns a blind eye until it's too late.
