In any given year, it's estimated as many as 3,000 children in Indianapolis can be described as homeless.
In Fall 2011, senior marketing students at the IU Kelley School of Business Indianapolis hosted an event and raised funds to support the Homeward Bound homeless initiative. Lack of support threatened the annual event.
Students raised nearly $40,000 and took on everything from logistics to promotions to make the event a success. Hundreds of people gathered Downtown on a rainy December evening to participate in the awareness walk.
