They actually are the same, I did a side by side comparison of the two, this one and the original by Nobuo Eumatsu are the same thing...

@stuman18888 This is the version from the movie, the movie version made by Nobuo Eumatsu are the same one. The orchestral is from the game, the so called "rock" version is from the movie.

@qedftgddd because when you "die" in combat you are only "knocked out" which a phoenix down can revive you from, but aeris wasn't knocked out but raped with sephiroth's sweet ass sword, no amount of phoenix down can bring you back from that...

@qedftgddd it would have but she dies in a FMV (Cut scene for you "newer" gamers) not in battle and the general rule of video games is i can Limitlessly revive you in combat but if you die in an FMV your done lol

@Shoan1225 2 things one you spelled "Uematsu" wrong but its OK as a lot of people do so no biggie and, two they would sound the same as they are made by the same person (in essence)the movie soundtrack was done by a band called The Black Mages which was founded by Uematsu himself (he also plays the piano for them in a lot of the songs) ^^
