  • Isn't that Bill Nighy singing? I LOVE this song and this adaption :)

  • @ssparrow331: Apparently So. I could be the passage of time but Bill must be a talented voice artist as he sounds so different.... Now he's has been mentioned for the Hobbit movie narration.

  • Terrific adaption. Thanks for posting.

  • thanks Earendil for the nice feed back,

check out the other LotR material here too.

  • I LOVE you! This is AWESOME. And I LOVE the BBC LotR and probably know it by heart because I listened to it a bazillion times and has always been my first exposure/version of LotR...

And THIS version of the Lay is my absolute fav too!

  • Thank you, yes I think the BBC version is awesome too

and thanks for the love, I have been fighting a battle for Middle Earth myself of late. as you can see if you ever google "Anduin Reach NZ"

  • the countless stars of heavens field were mirrored in his silver shield...favorite line from this song =)

  • @fjordland : I think the BBC adaptation is far superior in practically every way, than the movie version... and I say that loving Jackson's interpretation... But it doesn't hold a candle to the BBC.

The lay of Gilgalad is one of the shining moments for me. I truly wish JRR Tolkien had written the entire text, so that people could work from it today, to produce a work with the same heart as that shown in this small section of the BBC adaptation... Beautiful singing, and complimentary music.

  • I always wished they'd recorded the entire lay... so sad it'sjust this small section. I would PAY to hear it.

  • Aww ... I love you! Thank you for posting this! I have the tapes but no meanings to listen to them ... And I love that song so much!! Thank you again!!

  • Love it! I have listened to this Sooo many times, I've owned the tapes since I was really little and the best thing about this adapation is the songs. I listen to them over and over again!

  • nice video :) by the way is this speech from the movie? i dont remember it :S
