wow, this is Richards most viewed video!!
I have to admit this put a smile on my face, but he really does have other amazing videos that are completely different! Especially the videos where he's in Japan showing cool things and speaking Nihongo ;)
more the 2.5 million views!
well done Richard!

two questions just come to my mind. do they learn these phonics in school during therere 6-8 year-old? do they really speak the 'y' s, when they talk them? the 'y' sound has almost the same an 'i-e' sound, though i understand that the 'y' is a consonant and the 'i-e' are short vowels.

@roygbiv330 Hello, yes, most countries now do start with phonics in the first grade. The "sky" version of "y" is what's called an "alternative reading" you (usually) learn these after the first sounds.
This song is just a review of the basic sounds, mainly to get away from the "Ay, Bee, See" names, but you can find all the sounds and letters on the website!

my daughter is 2 and she is reading after witching this video for six months. She comprehends the sound of certain letters now, and anything she can't pronounce she just asks me.

@TheBeautifulkids Excellent, that's great to hear! Tell her a very big "well done" from me and well done to you too!

hmm.... about learning to read quicker by teaching phonetics first, what about the two sounds of some of the letters? that is, the hard sounds and the soft sounds, where C is See and Ke. With this in mind, isn't it better to teach the orthodox way so students can be made aware of both sounds of some of the letters? Just a thought. Interested in hearing your own thoughts/ideas on the matter. Keep up the good work though. Making learning fun is the best way to teach.

@HigherAffiliations You do these afterwards along with sh, ch, th etc. But even without them you can still read approx 80% of English, which is much better than "Ay, bee, see" as there they can't actually read anything.
Using the song kids can get the sounds pretty easily, but the real skill, and the hard one, is learning to blend the sounds together, which you have to use other techniques like we discuss on the site.
