The Boston Pops performs a nice little Patriotic finale for the '59 graduating class of MIT, and the most recent alumni. Performed in the Symphony Hall (?). The balloons are definitely a nice touch :)

Note: conductor steps away from conducting to try to catch a balloon! AND an alumn in the front row chucks a balloon at the conductor. good arm, grandpa!

  • I prefer Williams' version when he was in Tokyo (with the Boston Pops)..

  • Found this video while searching for highlights from the Reunion Row (which Class of '89 won, btw). Class of '59 had a strong showing, most classmates to show up to row and they were unanimously voted "Best Dressed," since they had racing shirts made just for the day.

  • i think i was over the right close to the door b/c i hear my sister talking at the end.

  • Nice .. is Keith Lockhart conducting?

  • This guy from the graduating class of '59. and an MIT (female, asian) student majoring in bio engineering and music performance?

  • Ooh, you should've filmed Lincoln Portrait and Rhapsody in Blue. Who narrated the Copland? Who soloed in the Gershwin?

  • academic festival overture - brahms

    lincoln portrait - copland

selections from "Girl Crazy" - gershwin-anderson

    rhapsody in blue - gershwin

and then a tribute to benny goodman (selection of songs like "sing, sing, sing")

    :)
