Washington Foreclosure Mediation Program

The state of Washington passed the Foreclosure Fairness Act creating the Foreclosure Mediation Program. This program is aimed at reducing the number of home foreclosures in the State of Washington.

One of the elements of the program is to give the homeowner an opportunity to enter mediation with the lender in front of a trained mediator. This allows the home owner and lender to discuss non foreclosure solutions including restructuring the loan, a suspension of payments, a short sale, or a deed in lieu of foreclosure.
