@Theroha I was always disappointed in my great-grandfather because of that. He was Cherokee, and fluent in the language, but he never taught it to any of us before he died last year. I decided a long time ago that I'm going to teach my child French and German, so they can learn the languages I DO know. And When I am finally able to learn Cherokee, I'll teach that to them as well.

@TheDrumking00 Definitely pass that on. My heritage is very mixed Germanic. I didn't learn a word of German until high school, but my grandfather is fluent in our ancestral dialect. Now I'm trying to learn as many languages as I can. I hate when the older generation doesn't pass on something as vital as language to the younger.
