  • Dear Friend,

There is large difference in between of a song & a gazal.

Great K L Sehgal sang a song & that was best.

Jagjitsingh did a classical one !

No comparision, between two great singers !!

  • waah !

  • Oh my goddddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this song is unbelievable my God !!!!! i love you!

  • The Maestro has yet again Outdone Himself.. What a Wonderful Listening Experience..

  • That's a correct point.. Generally, (old) indie songs were sung like that. I cannot degrade KL Saigal saying he had limited range, actually, he was best at what he was doing...

But at the same time, here with Jagjitsingh..you get Range, control, Raga & everything. Not all can do that.

    Rare in western musicians...

  • If sangit is matter of "soor & bhave emulated by a singer " then good singing would very from person to person and from audience to audience. But if Sangit is matter of range & control over the range. Then K L Saigal had very small range & could sing only simple melody. In sangit world (west or east), most singing professional gave lot of emphasis on range & control. By that standard small range is barely respectable.

  • thanks for your love for our music (classical or gazals) guys !

  • thanks for the value add...

    i bliv..

    music is free...& open ended...

new creativity & touch gives it a different charm.. There are dozen versions of Vandemataram :)

    I loved both - Jagjit Sir's version & KL Sehgal Sir's version ...

  • This is actually a thumri - and not a ghazal. It was written as a lament - so really it is a sad composition - something that is not reflected in this rendition.
