  • Very nicely done; clean, bright, and an efficient floor-plan. Can you fill us in on what situation this is located in where it is permitted? I have lived full-time in small dwellings and would have no problem in this for some indefinite time as-long-as it was part of an economical lifestyle. I like the idea of an insulated roof-over, and maybe some insulated siding system. Glad to see and hear more on this unit.

  • Great floor plan and design, I do agree there is the problem of insulation, I have seen that there is a spray on ceramic insulation being used in some of these conversions. Power can easily be routed via conduit, view the other container home videos. Solar panels could easily be mounted to the roof, and or a generator. Once again nice set up, just that here in the Arizona desert we'd need some insulating factors, maybe even placing it under a corrugated canopy, this giving a covered patio too.

  • What is that noise ?

  • The unit has a shower, heat and cooling. Do your homework.

  • I don't know. I'm not a construction expert.

  • We're starting our youth members on container home projects for low income families right now! This is a great concept, and very affordable. Not to mention going green in the process.

  • There was a bathroom between the kitchen and bedroom. You can use regular insulation and vinyl siding (you use a high-tech adhesive to hold the siding on) or you can use the same type of spray-on ceramic insulation used on the space shuttle.

  • Mmmm, it didn't look like it was insulated which is not good and I'm not sure the layout works either, however the idea is very sound indeed, especially at the moment with the credit crunch and all, there are a lot of people unable to afford a place and $10'000 is peanuts compared to most places.

  • i wonder if it won't be too cold inside, it's just a metal wall.. i'd make put there some isolation material and then cover all the walls with wood or something else.. also make windows to bring a bit of light in there. good idea, however
