Supermarket Workers Picket UFCW Local 99

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 99 has called a strike. With over a half million jobs being lost in the United States every month, 25, 000 Safeway and Fry's supermarket workers in Arizona will strike at 6 p.m. Friday. Many of the workers realize the lunacy, and are tired of being pushed around by the union thugs. At considerable riske to themselves, many have resigned from the union, and were spotted picketing UFCW headquarters.

Our last contract was shit, and did we strike? No, because we were afraid. Now its time for a new contract.. And surprise surprise, again Frys wants to give us a shit contract. Wake up! We, the workers, are the spine of  that company and we deserve better!

These workers were so silly! If they would have accepted that contract that Frys and Safeway were offering they would be paying more now. Only because the union stayed strong were the employees able to get a contract with no raises for health care. Even if what these workers were saying about only raising premiums on new hires is so selfish and so ridiculous that it makes me sick!

If all these scabs would have LISTENED to there shop steward or Union rep, they would have known there were "language issues" in the contract, meaning that the companies would continue current employee premiums "UNLESS THERE IS A SHORTFALL IN THE HEALTH AND WELFARE FUND", one hand washes the other, do your homework before you make an ass of yourself and don't know what you are talking about, YOU would have been paying about $200 per month within a year if the union would have accepted this

jparish62. I can see why you would be upset with the Fry's/Safeway workers if we STILL have no out of pocket cost for our great health care when you are paying $250/month with yours. And that is only the new hires that we were fighting for, so they would those benefits we have enjoyed as well. Thanks to UFCW99.

I personally think that this is a load of crap. The $1.55 raise that they want....ok, but bitching because you have to pay for healthcare....WTF?!?!? Oh no a whole $5 per week for singles, $10 for couples and $15 for families....this is fucking cheap as hell. At my work we pay $250 per month for healthcare and it is excellent. Maybe they should just cut their benefits?????
