Charlton Athletic Social Inclusion Programme is the 2009 regional winner for the South East. The project engages children at risk of exclusion from school and becoming involved with anti-social behaviour and youth crime. With the help of coaches from the league one football club, coaching sessions were set up in areas around Kent and soon developed into wider community projects which engaged 2000 young people.
The areas where the projects were set up saw a 25% drop in reports of anti-social behaviour and reduced the exclusion rates amonst participants.
