Massive Fishkill Overnight in the Rio Grande, Near Roswell, NM - Aug 1. 2011

"A massive fish kill at Lea Lake near Roswell has prompted state officials to close the lake to swimming until further notice.

The New Mexico Parks Division says park staff closed the lake at Bottomless Lakes State Par immediately Monday after they noticed hundreds of dead fish washed ashore.

The state Game and Fish Department is investigating what caused the fish to die off, and may call upon the state Environment Department to help.

Right now the state is taking water samples for preliminary analysis, but confirmation of a cause may take several days or a week.

Lea Lake is the deepest lake at the state park and the only one where swimming is allowed.

Camping and picnic areas around the lake will remain open while the investigation continues."

also if you look close at the fish they show they are the bottom feeders those were a type of carp,and carp can live in almost any nasty condition and they will eat sewege if it is in the water, im calling bullpoopie!
