The baby gets more nutriests and other benefits from directly breastfeeding than you are knowledgeable about. Go to ILLL dot org to check out the benefits of suckling the breast versus getting the milk through the bottle. I used the word dot because it is against user agreement to list website in comments.

Breastfeeding is INCESTUOUS. Nowadays there is no need to breastfeed -using breast pumps the baby gets the same benefits of the breast milk-. It is just an excuse for some mothers to satisfied an ill perversion.

I really wish that the breastfeeding rates will continue to rise significantly because it will prevent about 9,000 infant deaths every single year, lower the infant abandonment rate, and lower health care costs in the USA. If we can do this in our country, then we can then get the developing countries to quit feeding infant formula to babies and prevent 1,500,000 infant deaths every single year.

Immunological Considerations
When the child latches on to the breast, the mammary glands of the mother detect microbes brought to it by the infant. The mother's body responds by producing specific immunity factors for her baby that are delivered through her breastmilk. The mother herself does not need to be exposed to the microbe for this process to work.
