I wrote to the SNP with one question and that was will an Independent Scotland be run with separation of Church and state and therefore no longer be a Christian nation and they have refused to respond. I think the people should be told if Scotland will be a secular nation and either way the SNP needs to produce a FULL constitution so people understand the guiding principles and values of this secular non Christian nation. What are the values they want for Scotland if any?
@scotsexile1 a nation once again , your best years have been with the union , salmond is leading you into the abiss , and if it does effect us , we should have a say to
@SereneSatellites - I'm sorry but your link doesn't work either- in order to avoid this debate dragging on an on, how about we bring an end to this and just agree to disagree
@SereneSatellites - An IPSOS Mori poll conducted in December 2011 showed 38% favour for Scottish independence within Scotland. Reference- scotsman.com/news/politics/poll_shows_rise_in_support_for_scottish_independence_1_2050012
@kalslater And which poll is that claiming 38%? Because the most recent one by Ipsos Mori says 29%.
The pittance of oil that comes out of the North Sea would not be enough to sustain Scotland's government spending. Once more, only about 60% of the North Sea oil would be Scotland's if it seceded.
You don't seem to understand the distribution of government spending, and how the government is collecting its taxes and from where.
@SereneSatellites - according to the most recent poll 38% of Scots want independence. Although we can't ever tell the future you can't say that Scotland will NEVER succeed, it may or it may not. That extra spending per capita would be covered by North Sea oil revenues that would go to Edinburgh and not London, in fact it would do more than cover the extra 17% but would result in budget surplus
@kalslater Per capita government spending in Scotland is 117%. If you planned on keeping things like healthcare, you'd have to greatly raise taxes, because at the moment you're financially dependent on England. Scotland's financial institutions are also ingrained with the rest of the UK.
Anyway, Scotland will never secede. Secession isn't popular enough (29% want independence - Ipsos Mori), and among those that want independence, it's primarily among the idiotic young.
@SereneSatellites - do you have any idea how massive the economy of an independent Scotland would be? There would be no need for aid from the British government

Well the die has been cast and we´re going to have a referendum in 2014 and the Scottish people will have their say.
The Westminster government and unionist establishment, including the Labour Party, will try and disrupt the campaign with lies and scaremongering.
However, the Scottish people will not be intimidated. Independence is inevitable and we will be a nation again!
