  • I just think it's really cool that he got John C. Reilly and Dom DeLouise to play the song with him.

  • the thing is tom is one of a kind, he dont care about no copyright laws man. this cat is one of a fucking kind. He dont care about fame and lots of money he just wants to play at nightclubs up in heaven one day.

  • @Toedoog Yeah but his record company is actually with public broadcasting not against it like most major record companies, even though Tom isn't so crazy about the "internet thing". He actually regretted not protecting his music from his first record company when he was younger, I'm glad he knows who to protect his property from now.

  • @guardcorp I agree but; doesn't care about copyright?? Ha he's set up so many court cases about people and advertisements using his music.

  • the "closed caption" are great youtube!

  • God Letterman, that was so fucking random, "Can you hear this? Does that put you in the mind of fairies?" "Yeah it has that uh Disney..." LMAO!

    Great song!

  • My god there's so much soul in his voice when he sings it's amazing. Rain Dogs is one of my top five favourite albums of all time, Tom Waits is one of the finest alternative musicians of all time. Actually I don't trust anyone who doesn't like Tom Waits.

Now I just want to see him do more acting cos he seems to enjoy it so much (and he was awesome as Renfield in Bram Stoker's Dracula lol)

  • "We're gonna hear Time, is that right Tom?"

    "Okay, we'll try that one..."

  • and the rain sounds like a round of applause....it;s time

  • It`s a damn shame that we didn`t get this beautiful song in it`s entirety........ Tori Amos performed a powerful version of "Time" on Letterman as the first musical guest after 9-11-2001

  • You see, I loved the out-of-tune guitar - the second I saw it I detuned mine a bit to see how it sounded. For most people it wouldn't work, but with Tom Waits it adds to the shambolic air that he presents visually, lyrically and musically.

  • This was the perfomance that made me a Tom Waits fan. My older brother had "Small Change," but I didn't get Tom as a teenager. I saw this on Letterman, and I saw the Rain Dogs tour at the Chicago Theatre (w/Marc Ribot!) a year later. Been a big fan ever since.
