This is a video taken of the Samsung LA40F81BDX (1013 firmware) with the Motion Plus 100Hz turned onto the Low setting while playing a HDDVD. Noticeable image judder occurs around the 5 and 10 second marks.

  • Doesn't this effect make everything look as if it was displaying in 60 fps rather than 24? because I'm looking for a good HDTV that has this feature, like an LG..

  • @DrGWR11 That's the idea. It fills in gaps between frames by calculating the difference between the 2 frames and then adding in what it thinks would be the image in between them, thus virtually increasing the amount of frames per second.

  • Yeah, 100hz is definitely something you should be looking for in an LCD.

  • I have a Samsung with 100Hz and I have the setting 'Off" and my judder has gone along with picture noise - a good test is on the Dark Knight at the beginning scene - check the building on the left (If you have the film), Rich

  • Yeah, I have no problem with the 100hz turned off. I just find it disappointing that the solution to the "judder" problem is to turn motion flow off. It's a feature that I would have liked to use more on HD content.

  • @frankles71 You're right, the 100hz Motion Plus just seems to speed up the picture and it makes movement seem unnatural. Some TV's like Sony's and Panasonic force this feature set to 'on' which would drive me crazy.

  • is the 100hz worth the extra money when investing in hd tvs?

  • So is having a 100hz motion plus an advantage or disadvatange? i wanted to buy samsung tv. i was planning to buy the series 5 32 inch which do not have motion plus. in much cheaper price. than series 6 which have motion plus. if the difference is really2 noticable (in a good way) i dont mind saving another $500 more to just have the series 6
