Here is Part One of my 22 minute-plus game of Race Drivin' on the Super Stunt Track on Midway Arcade Treasures 3 for the XBOX. I made it around an astounding 5 laps (tying a personal record) and recording a final score of 412,628. I also won the Championship Lap. I might have done more and gotten even a higher score had I not screwed up a couple of times during this run. ENJOY!!!

  • automatics are for sissies. :P

  • I know... I need more practice with the Manual transmission cars. I'm decent with Roadster, but I suck with Speedster.

  • Looks awesome but why are the sound effects so terrible

  • Poorly emulated and programmed sound effects. The squealing noises get on my nerves. The MAME and arcade versions don't have nearly as much.

  • Excellent... I really must get back to this. ;)

You might want to add links to the other parts in the description for the videos.

  • Thanks. BTW, I just beat my own high score. I did an additional couple of laps, totalling 7 and got 545,740 points, before I ran out of time before the finish line on 8th lap after I made a couple of mistakes.

It's possible to play this game for a very long time, if you're a skilled driver.

  • you are supposed to be upside down over the fuel truck in the tunnel...argue with me if you wish :)

  • @skierpage

I never bothered with Speedster. I went with Sportster. At the top of the hill, you want to go slow enough but not so much to slide backward. The key is to not lose the traction. The track feels kinda steppy there and it is very easy to slide around if you are too fast. As you go over the hill, the car must point exactly straight otherwise you will crash as you touch the bottom of the hill. I can't believe I still remember all this after all those years :))

  • Heh, the recent Mercedes SLS AMG ad (video QjyAApM7EiM , at 2:10) reminded me of looping the tunnel at the end of Race Drivin' , but I can't find a video of it. I spent a lot of quarters on this game but the Speedster would always lose control on that big hill at 2:45 and I only once made it through the whole course. The arcade version has fantastic physical feel.

  • Back in 89-90ish, I played this game SO much in arcade, that I could go lap after lap on the super stunt track and actually increase the time remaining. I once played more than 1.5 hours with 50 cents, then just gave up. BTW, try doing a cork-screw inside the tunnel, both clockwise and counterclockwise. :)

  • What would you rate this game out of 5?? Please tell me soon. Thanks

  • I can't even watch this video unfortunately for the sound. IT doesn't just on my nerves.. it kinda makes me sick.

I totally forgot how smooth the arcade version is though.. I played it on the SNES and Gameboy (yes... there is a gameboy port that is 3d) for so long which had a disgustingly low frame rate.

A better game than this though is Stunts.. the only game I can think of that does gameplay like stunts that is modern is Track Mania.
