  • True, Loreena McKennitt is a Canadian who sings many Celtic inspired songs, but the song itself is not Celtic. It was inspired by a trip she took to the Northern Africa for a local jazz festival in Marrakesh. Thus the title of the song and the many references to the Middle East: dancing cobras, the River Nile, and the general sound and atmosphere of an open air market ther. If a Canadian can sing about such an exotic place, I see no reason why a Greek shouldn't.
