Onboard video from the start of the 2011 2CV 24Hr race held at Snetterton Circuit. You are onboard with yours truly as I start the race from 19th position. This video shows thge first 7 minutes, just as a taster for what this sort of racing is all about. More videos to come of action over the 24hrs.

Forget LeMans, Nurburgring, Dubai, Britcar, Funcup, Lemons, Chumpcar the real premier 24hr race is the one held in Norfolk at Snetterton for the 2CVs :)

At the end of my 2hr stint I had gotten us up to 8th position.

The cars are Citroen 2CVs which have 2 cyl engines of around 600cc capacity and will generate about 40bhp when tuned for racing. They run on road rims (very narrow, 135s) and road tyres. Suspension is tweaked but the 2CV system was already excellent and these cars can corner at higher G than any other road car, pulling about 1.1g in the corners.

The video is captured on a Video4 setup from Race-Technology. I use this system extensively in my driver coaching where we are able to compare data & video down to minute detail to help the driver improve at a faster rate.

Why not subscribe to my channel for the very best onboard videos on Youtube, over 370 videos already uploaded and new ones posted every week, from race series' and trackdays all over the world. http://www.youtube.com/maxxuk

If you enjoy this video please consider adding it as a favorite or giving it a thumbs up :)

  • Hi Max, why do you run into the back of the car infront? Don't you have a no contact rule?

  • @Lejbanaa - In 2CV racing it's desirable to 'draft' the car in front, it means you both end up going faster. So we do try and get as close as possible, often running nose to tail for many laps. Sometimes if the front driver misses a gear of scrubs a little speed this can end up with a tap (or more ... I have an example coming up!)

We also occasionally touch and push each other along, hard to judge though and you risk damaging the fan (as I did in the incident I mention) :) Thanks for watching.

  • I was once again competing in a kart 24hr this weekend. Next year though, I plan to do this. Immense!

  • Ha ha. I just caught a glimpse of myself dangling from the starting gantry!

  • Love your vids max. Great Driving. Keep it up!

  • @Lejbanaa To add to what Max said, when drafting, sometimes the car behind will gain more speed that the car infront, so to assist the car infront the car behind will give them a little push. It's done in NASCAR all the time at tracks such as Daytona and Talladega. It's often referred to as "Bump Drafting"

  • Wow, incredibly funny cars :) so scary to watch you approaching to turn sometimes :D
