what a surprising (to me at least) revealed side
to this impeccable artist
both his roots strong attachment & more than a 'tab' of dramatic
ability; he has his very own way of processing and delivering this
literal treasure. kissin's work is beyond, and it is so great he is
still in the 'young category', countering what goes on in the overly 'marketized'
and cheapened classical world. so great he's to deliver in the midst of it for looong time

I was lucky enough to catch Kissin's Russian and Yiddish poetry recital, (french translations recited by Gerard Depardieu!), in Montpellier two years ago. It was just as charismatic and gripping as his best concerts, so no regrets about the absence of a piano on stage.
