I was born and raised on sweet potatoes and more importantly sweet potato pie, so I always knew there was a difference between yams and sweet potatoes.

BTW Real sweet potato pie is made with reg. pie crust.

Oh no! You wrapped them in aluminum foil? You NEVER do that! The natural sugars don't carmelize! You cook them naked skin on, the skin will protect the meat of the sweet pot and the result will be much sweeter and you won't have to use so much sugar.
