neither his teeth nor his accent ;) - I only don't know the english word for the problem... - perhaps it's something like:
"relict of a poliomyelitis"?
But I only heard that, don't trust me here.

its either ton has a tooth problem, or its just his accent that makes if hard for him to pronounce gnaw.
