A nice song played by Albert Ammons and The Ryhthm Kings like he did with "Lady Be good" or "Roses of Picardy". Actually old folkloric songs turned into Boogie woogie.
Note than the part of the piano is mainly played with typical Ammon's riffs and piano boogie patterns. The melody, originally, was played by an amazing trumpet in the beginning of the number, then saxophone follows. Albert gives a crazy beat with his play of boogie piano, exposing several 32 bars of the song like crazy after horns!
I tried to offer a mixture of the whole song played by the orchestra making the boogie piano clear enough and closed to the Albert's version; introduction is not so easy to do...one have to rehearse a while. Enjoy this video!

  • You the man - I've always loved WYAIWYM!

  • Hmm... you're playing this in G... I thought boogie woogie was SUPPOSED to played in C. HAHAHA just kidding... good work

  • Merci encore, superbe interprétation. Une rencontre à la Roquebrou, peut-être ?

  • tout simplement génial, je pense que si on orientait l'enseignement du piano vers ce genre de musique, un plus grand nombre de jeunes continueraient le piano...

  • awesome!
