Here we go! Finally got around to doing this one. An attempt at the studio version of When the Music's Over by The Doors. Like my other videos, this was recorded in one shot, there are a few mistakes. This one is too long for Youtube so it is posted in two installments. try not to doze off :) Enjoy!

This song was transcribed by ear so I don't have any sheet music.

  • Hi Rob,

Your playing puts me in the same "trance" that the Doors did from back in the '60s. Nicely done..... My hat is off to you.

Technical question ....I suspect you are using Gibson G-101 samples...if this is so, is your left hand playing the same G101 sounds that would be generated on a real G101 (i.e. the bass and extended bass keys of a G-101)?

    Thanks again

  • @GibsonG101 thanks alot! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) To answer your question, I actually used Vox Continental samples in this video with a Rhodes sound in the bass,, the only video that I used Gibson G101 samples on was the Love Me Two Times video.

  • GREAT video, you play really well! Did you ever think about writing the music down on sheet and putting it out there?

  • @eduardopfalmeida thanks alot! I'm not good with sheet music though unfortunately, I don't use them

  • where you learned to play well? D: D:

  • @GIOVASRK alone in my room :)

  • Loved it!!! Great job Also, one of the best Vox Contiental samples I've heard. They usually sound terrible. This video was superb on all levels!

  • Excellent playing!- You've helped me figure out some parts of these doors' tunes that I improvised rather weakly.(the sheet music is always simplified) How about something from the other "Lord of the keys"?-(John Lord ,that is)- thanks again!

  • This is a tutorial, sort of. This is what I do... Pause the video for every 1 chord and write down the notes that are being played. It takes time but then after some time you have all the notes, you can practice. I'm doing this right now, another thing you can do (maybe with authors permission) you can download the video, and use VLC player to slow the video / audio down. Be creative :)

  • post a tutorial please
