The Dolphins entertain themselves here by making air bubbles in the shape of rings with their blowholes and then swim through them

  • Blowing rings that move horizontally, rather than just rising straight up, requires intelligence. Dolphins create a vortex, sense the vortex with their sonar, and inject air into it to create the rings. They can even control the rings with their sonar and with water currents.

  • they do this in the wild. they love to play with things like leaves and stones at the bottom of the tank, with so many people and so many other dolphins in such close contact, its the ones in the wild that get bored.

  • @xXgothicgrl Well, Aquariums and all those sort of places do give us the chance but, you can go swim with wild dolphins on tour boats. Its far more amazing to see an animal act in its own way in a seemingly endless tank than going to see one jump about and act like an idiot in a pretend, artificial world at aquariums and theme parks. besides, I dont beleive in keeping wild animals in captivity, the only animals I have are domestic cats, dogs and fish. I dont beleve in exotic pet trades.

  • Every time I see creatures like this in tanks/cages I just want to break them out. They're not meant to entertain middle class idiots, they're meant to be free.

  • But question is why do you think they are in there? There are many creatures in this world that we don't see everyday but with zoo and aquariums, it gives us a chance to see them up close and personal. The trainers teaching them tricks I thinks is unnecessary but by entertaining people, they make money. So please keep those "it's so sad to see them like that" comments to yourselves. If you have a pet snake, parrot or any animal that belongs in the wild, I'd suggest you take your own advice.

  • @fighter4paula How on earth can any concrete tank be compared with their natual habitat? Dolphins weren't put on this planet to swim around in circles. They need to roam free in open waters. Dolphins can swim up to 40-50 kilometers a day. Do you have any idea how many cirlces that is in this small concrete prison? Interaction with trainers, whatever for, for some more dead fish. It's a common knowledge that dolphins hate to eat dead fish, but they don't have a choice, they don't get anything else

  • this is something i never seen before O_o is actually pretty impressive hehe

  • dolphins aren't that stupid. have u looked at their iq scores at all. they are smarter than humans in some cases.

  • they're known to do that even in the wild and its filmed numerously.

one of there playing habits ( that much we know thus far )

  • I'm sure BOTH wild and captive dolphins get bored sometimes. Neither more than the other. Most facilities provide toys, trainer interaction, and provide companions, so dolphins can play with eachother. This tank looks to be adequately designed to best replicate a natural habitat, with sand, rocks, and some coral. According to their behavior, the dolphins seem to be quite pleased. However, one looks very obese, and I'm guessing it's not pregnancy fat.

  • these dolphins are raised or got out of the ocean at young age they are used to get the food served they dont know how to hunt if you put them in the wild survival chances are low
