A sad song with a great lyric by Willie. Note the harmonies where Brenda's famous alto provides the low notes. Contrast with their other duet where Lee is the higher voice (See link in Video Responses). Willie originally recorded the song for 1976's "Wanted! The Outlaws" album but it was left off the record. In 1996, the 20th anniversary CD of the album included Willie's solo as a Bonus Track.

You Left Me A Long Long Time Ago
Written and recorded by Willie Nelson

C F C
You tell me today that you're leaving
D7 G7
But just think a while I'm sure that you must know
C F
Today might be the day that you walk away C G7 C
But you left me a long long time ago
G7 C
Today is just the day that ends it all
D7 G7
Except the usual memories that always linger on
C F
And today might be the day that you walk away C G7 C
But you left me a long long time ago F C
I stood with helpless hands and watched me lose your love
D7 G7
A little more each day then it was gone
C F
I kept wondering just how long until this day would come C G7 C
Just how long could your pride keep hanging on
G7 C
So please don't say you're sorry don't say anything
D7 G7
Don't try to say why you must leave just go
C F
And today might be the day that you walk away C G7 C
But you left me a long long time ago G7 C
You left me a long long time ago
