  • The scene between Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb about Norman is one of the great scenes of this movie. Cameron's Titanic can't even come close. The acting in this movie is done by adults who knew about acting. Not by kids who fill up people magazine.

  • This Titanic movie is about people. Cameron's Titanic is about Cameron.

  • "He is not your son." Even Maury Pauvich couldn't have said it better, or with more devastating effect!

  • The people portraying the Astors are not well cast. Mrs. Astor is as tall as her husband, but in reality, Mr. Astor towered over his wife. In addition, the woman portraying Mrs. Astor looks about 30, but in reality, she was only 19. (She was also pregnant during the voyage, but of course, the 1953 version would not show that, seeing as to how her husband was 30 years her senior!) The man portraying Mr. Astor also looks too old for the real one.

  • "He is NOT your son!" Now THAT is a kick in the groin! (By the way, Annette is a snobby and whiny bitch).

  • Am I the only person who wants them to get on with the Titanic story?

  • @fisteberg Thanks for using capitals. They make your point much more convincing.

  • @uranian99 Yes this movie is ABOVE CAMERON AND FROM VERY FAR.IT IS BETTER QUALITY AND DIALOGUES AND NOT STUPID ROMANCE.It isn't just about money and kids romance.Cameron wanted to make a blockbuster,a movie with a high budget. His movie sucks for me!bad so bad compared to this jewel with Barbara stanwick, robert wagner and all other people....

  • Robert Wagner was and IS a true babe!!!

  • This movie has better dialogue and characterization than the 97 film. The 97 film has better cinematography, music, special effects, and a much better portrayal of the disaster.

  • @49bobbyk Right you are. True actors every one of them. When Barbara Stanwyck tells Clifton Webb the truth about Norman she doesn't tell him with a gloating triumph, she tells him with pain in her eyes, and you can see it. She knows what it will do to him. People wonder why people put this film above Cameron's "endeavor." They just can't see the quality. Sad.

  • @ajbx10 Well said. It's nice to see Cameron didn't pull the wool over everyone's eyes.
