Yes. From what I understand every syllable must have a clear intonation...
For example the number one stays the same ---
The number two falls \
The number five falls then rises \/
The number ten rises /

Yup - Japanese has its roots in Chinese. If you read Kanji you'll see lots of similarities. ;-)

Yes! I studied Spanish in high school and am working on getting better at it. I live in a predominately Hispanic town and it's really useful. Besides, learning is fun! :-)
