Destruction of their normal habitat (tall trees in thick woodland) has forced large numbers of monkey families to convert unused Gangotri apartments into temporary homes. This enforced cohabitation of humans and their simian cousins in this way has not been easy. These monkeys leave their excrement on corridors and stairways. Stealing of food by these animals is frequent. There have been many instances of monkeys attacking children. Spread of rabies through them is also thought to be quite common.

  • People still contribute to the problems these monkeys face. If they would stop feeding them, they would go to the remaining forest and make an honest living. People think they are helping the animals, but their making it worse. Monkeys when fed will breed even more. When they can’t get food, they stop breeding so much, and they might leave the babies. Cruel, yes, nature is cruel. But it’s even worse to populate an area where they will be ran over, poisoned, etc. People always screw up the system

  • GIVE ME A CATTEL PRODE ITS JUST A SIMPLE MATTER OF VOLTAGE TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THOSE OVER GROWN RATS

  • its incredible how their intelligence can override primal instinct. these monkeys are carrying young and show no fear nor aggression to humans who, to the monkey, are inexplicably giving them food. i'm sure they are weary and keep a close eye on all humans it gets near, but it seems very calm, casual, and non hesitant.

  • windap55,

    Easier said than done!

  • Maybe we should stop destroying their woodland habitat????

  • In Britain, we have destroyed most of our wild life like our wolves and bears. India must not make the same mistake with its wild life when it develops into a fully industrialised economy.

  • Monkeys are wild animals. They attack humans only because humans are destroying their habitat and their sources of food.

  • These monkeys look lovely on film but I would be too scared to be within a mile of any of them! I have seen them biting people and frightening the hell out of small children. And they carry infection like rabies which can fatal. You think they are lovely? You can have them but please keep them away from me!

  • Exceptional video!

  • Lovely!
