  • I am just like you too dude. You need:

    -4 years undergraduate

    -4 years medical school

    -6-7 years of residency

    -1 year internship

    that is a long time but by the time you get out and start working you will be rich both financially and you we feel so wonderful that you are saving someones life everyday. There is no better field to go into than medicine and there is no better occupation than that of a neurosurgeon.

  • all of you in here commenting about the salary are NEVER going to be one.

    if you think that this job is all about earning money then forget it.

    you are the people in this world who have turned medicine / biology into profit making machine with no disregard about human lives.

    i hope you all rot in hell.

  • Dr.Jeffrey Ojemann Saved my life, if he didn't take out my deformed right hippocampus I would have turned into a vegetable. Due to this man's hard work I've been seizure free for 3 years.

  • @ibukurkristi You can also say that those who are naive enough to think that they can get into hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt from a medical education, and not even think about the potential monetary benefits are fools, and deserve to be that deep in debt if that is the case. Money is a part of life. Unless the government decides that a medical education should be free for whomever decides to pursue it, knowing full well the challenges and hardships ahead, money WILL be a factor.

  • If you want to become rich, go into business.

  • @tim9355 Yes. Just like NASA now being scrapped and replaced by private enterprises whose only intention is to send millionaires to space. Is that your America? Is that your creative destruction? You see, some physicists/biologists/doctors do not work in their labs to find new ways to earn revenues, Tim. It's a motivation drive for a better world that makes them do what they do not the earning extra 0's in their bank accounts.

  • @ibukurkristi These people who have turned medicine into a money powerhouse are the reason for the cutting edge treatments we can offer today. The United States of America is one of the few countries with private health care. And because of this a huge percentage of the medical advances are made because of the profit it produces. So next time you need an MRI or CAT or some brand new treatment thank those rotting in hell.

  • @ibukurkristi I am in the medical field. Trust me, alot of surgeons got into this field for the money and power.

  • I finished 4 years in Nursing - this month I started my first year of 5 in Medicine and surgery + I have 1 year of internship to go and maybe 6-7 years of residency in neurosurgery.My friends keep telling me you will grow old by the time u become a neurosurgeon.. I don't care - I have the passion and luv to become neurosurgeon.l I am only 23 years old now

    . =)
