I experimented with the idea of mixing gregorian chant and cathedral type music with symphonic black metal but never really followed through. All vocals and instruments except drums are by me. Drums by manwiththemoves.

I cut out the ending because it sounded really bad so that's why this vid ends abruptly.

Lyrics:

His regal dawn, sword, and his chalice of glory
Shall serve the harvest of lost souls and rescue of none
The eyes of men ever divided and fleeting
Rendered this chasm that festers forever within

And we arise, ardor and value left wanting
None left encumbered, no crosses no burdens to bear
This construct lies hewn by the weakness of nations
Hero and mortal, virtue and malice as one

Dreams of the wicked stand rooted in splendor
Eyes are but tools for mortal surrender
Value shall heed to perpetual lameness
As the masses join the dead

  • This is what I've been looking for... Will there be more?

  • @Googoie Yeah I have written a few more gregorian metal songs that I will record, seems like people kind of dig the idea.

  • I was just curious what Gregorian chant plus modern metal would sound like. Good job. And I don't even like metal, but this is just fun to listen to. Ever thought about using original Latin lyrics? Might be a bit of a slap in the balls to the Catholic church, but would be fun. Also, if you're pursuing this, it might be fun to experiment with other medieval modes or even some type of organum and the 5th below.

  • @zedrummer0 Honestly, I don't think I am nearly well versed enough in actual gregorian chant music to make it that accurate. I guess it would be better to say that this song is gregorian influenced lol

  • well done, this is cool!

  • @evolusean yes please, i love this stuff.. its awesome .. cant wait for more!!

  • Fucking sick man.Redo the ending a bit and this shit will be perfect.

  • The irony is that black metal is against Christianity.

  • I mean it is perfect... great combination:) More moooore please

  • great combination

  • I think you're on to something here and I don't think, not that I'm speaking on their behalf, that the Catholic Church would be offended. In fact, it was only a year or so back that there was a Monk that was doing Metal himself at age 60-70 something! He retired due to the heavy schedule it required of him. I like the comment about using the original Latin as well. Don't stop now...maybe there's a payday in this after all. If I found it in the local music shop, I would buy a CD of this stuff :-)
