that's a very hypothetical situation, it is not that common and very unlikely, but at the same time possible. now that's the kind of situation where it's a difficult call to make. Most abortion cases are where the woman consentually had sex and didn't want to live with the consequences. But like I said this is a case where it's hard to pick a side. I do believe the child still has a soul, but what kind of life would they be living if that was the case.

Here is something to think about, a hypothetical situation that is for some rather more than hypothetical.

You or your wife are pregnant. You then discover, late in the pregnancy - it can only be detected after several months - that the infant in anencephalic, that is, without most of their brain. Even if they survive birth, unlikely, they will die rapidly, and will require constant life support, and all the while, lacking a brain, have, for want of a better term, no soul, no consciousness.

i said i understand why they'd want to get rid of the baby, i did not say i support it. understanding and supporting something are two different things. I'm more sympathetic to the rape victims, but i dont not believe abortion is the answer to that either. now what you're saying is that the women who have abortions are ignorant, that maybe they were ill-informed when the topic of abortions was brought up.

In addition, I don't see how if you believe that abortion is murder, that you can make an exception for rape victims. If it's murder, it's murder. That, I feel, is a moral lapse on your line of reasoning. What would stop the patients from all saying that they were raped, if it meant being able to receive an abortion?
